The Rhinelander Police Department Patrol Division consists of nine full-time Patrol Officers and four full-time Patrol Sergeants.  The Patrol Division's main responsibility is handling calls for service that the Rhinelander Police Department receives on a daily basis.  In addition to handling calls, the Patrol Division performs traffic enforcement,  patrol the city parks, handle requests for the media, and give various presentations to the community.  In 2007, the Rhinelander Police Department responded to approximately 7,750 calls for service.

The Rhinelander Police Department Patrol Division currently utilizes Ford Crown Victorias and Chevrolet Tahoes as their primary patrol vehicles.  Each squad car is equipped and maintained with the tools and equipment necessary for the Patrol Officers to perform their job efficiently and effectively.  Some of those tools/equipment include:

  1. Radar Unit
  2. Squad Car Camera
  3. AR-15 Tactical Rifle
  4. Mobile Data Computer (MDC)
  5. Digital Camera
  6. Tactical Vest & Helmet
  7. Binoculars
  8. Remington 870 Express Shotgun
  9. Flares
  10. First Aid Kits

The Rhinelander Police Department also has a 2008 Harley Davidson Police Motorcycle which it utilizes during normal patrol duties and during special events.  The Rhinelander Police Department started the motorcycle patrol division in 2004 and has continued with the program since that time.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either Police Chief Michael Steffes or Sergeant Jeff Melau at (715) 365-5300 during normal business hours.
